Introducing "På Väg" (On The Way) by Ryan Ward: Embrace the experimental jazz voyage of this emerging Swedish drummer and composer.

 

Ryan Ward, hailing from Stockholm, Sweden grew up into a musical family, where both parents are professional classical musicians. Ryan’s musical journey began in 2013 when he participated as a youngster in Stockholm’s kulturskolans slagverkskollo (percussion summer camp). This ignited a passion that led him to the prestigious Södra Latin high school for arts, where he discovered his love for Jazz Music. His journey continued and he graduated with a bachelor degree 2023 from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm where he also recorded his debut EP “På Väg”.

 

With influences ranging from Classical music to Free Jazz, Ryan's music transcends traditional boundaries, blending traditional and contemporary jazz into a meditative and spellbinding journey. Currently Ryan is continuing his musical career in the Jazz Masters program at the Jazz Academy of Basel in Switzerland.

 

Notably, Ryan Ward has already begun to make waves in the Swedish jazz scene. He has shared the bandstand with luminaries such as Tobias Wiklund, Jonas Kullhammar & 

Fredrik Ljungkvist, to name a few.. 

 

Ryan Ward came 2nd place in the annual Blue House Jazz Festival competition for small bands 2019, the same year he and his trio went through the audition to be a part of the summer showcase at the Royal Concert Hall where they performed summer concerts.

He has also been granted scholarships for promising musicians from the Royal Academy of Music both 2022 & 2023.
